About Summer Nile
Hello there! My name is Summer, and I'm an artist and illustrator living in Pennsylvania, United States. My illustrations share scenes I wish I had seen more often growing up –– whimsical stories with diverse casts that feature Black characters.
As a textbook Mediator personality, I use my sentimental nature to create pieces that evoke various emotions and sometimes relatable experiences. My feelings, friends, and cherished memories often drive my illustrations.
When I create illustrations, I prefer using watercolor, ink, and colored pencils. I am also skilled in art techniques such as photography, graphic design, and many more. My artistic style draws inspiration from Arnold Lobel, the illustrator of "Frog and Toad," and various hand-drawn animated movies from studios like Dreamworks, Disney Animation Studios, and Studio Ghibli.
I have a background in Studio Art from Bucknell University, as well as Business Management and Entrepreneurship from Montgomery County Community College. Currently, I work as a laboratory assistant and am studying to become a scientist specializing in biotechnology and ecology. Ultimately, I am working towards becoming a fully independent artist in the future. Doing so will allow me to share fun and uplifting stories through books and animations while encouraging others to express their creativity freely and authentically.

Thanks for reading. Wish me luck and have a wonderful day!

Warmly,
Summer
